Spaghetti Bolognese
Spaghetti Bolognese

Spaghetti Bolognese is known to be one of the most popular Italian dish all across the globe, though it may not be found in Italy nor served in a traditional Italian restaurant. It is a derivative of the famous Italian dish - “Tagliatelle al Ragu”, belonging to the Bologna region, with a combination of more than one type of meat, like minced beef and pork.

Ingredients:

  • 500gm of spaghetti
  • 500 gm of tomato
  • 250 gm of lamb mince
  • 3 tbsp of white wine
  • 2 tbsp of olive oil
  • 2 onions
  • 2 tbsp of tomato puree
  • 1 cup of tomato juice
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 2 tbsp of butter
  • Few basil leaves
  • Paprika powder
  • 1 tsp each of oregano, thyme and rosemary
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Methods:

1. Chop the onions, garlic and tomatoes finely.

2. Heat the oil and butter in a pan. Sauté the onion, garlic and tomatoes. Put in the lamb mince and stir-fry till golden. Add the white wine, tomato puree and tomato juice. Add the paprika or red chilli powder. Add the oregano, thyme and rosemary. Season with salt and pepper.

3. Cover and slow cook for about 45 minutes stirring from time to time. The sauce will thicken and will have a rich red colour. Boil the spaghetti till al dente. Place the spaghetti in a serving dish. Push over the prepared sauce. Sprinkle a few drops of olive oil. Garnish with basil leaves.
